Madrid, Spain, June 4-7, 2018
Rey Juan Carlos University

After Crystal City, Edinburgh, Boca Raton, Orlando, Potsdam, San Diego, Florence, Sao José dos Campos, Catania, Lille, Ann Arbor, Aberdeen, and Banff, the 15th edition of the Experimental Chaos and Complexity Conference will be held in Madrid, Spain, on June 4-7, 2018, organized by the Rey Juan Carlos University at the Madrid Campus in the Vicálvaro district (how to reach the venue). As in the past editions, this biennial conference is dedicated to experimental work in nonlinear dynamics. It is a highly interdisciplinary conference to highlight experiments and experimental challenges, although the conference attracts many theorists and mathematicians providing a theoretical framework to observations or new methods for analyzing data.

August 10-13, 2018 - São Paulo, Brazil - IFT-UNESP

The Workshop will focus on different aspects and applications of vertex algebras and infinite dimensional Lie algebras to representation theory and conformal field theory. The International Congress of Mathematicians, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro from August 1-9, 2018, will preceed this event. There is no registration fee.

After so many months of work and expectation, the year of the Congress has finally arrived! Preparations are well under way: the bulk of the scientific program has been defined, the proceedings are being finalized (the papers by plenary and invited speakers will be distributed to all the participants at the Congress), travel grants have been awarded to participants from the developing world, communications and posters are being selected as I write, and registration of participants is also taking place right now.

August 14-18, 2018 | São Paulo, Brazil | IFT-UNESP

The last decades have seen much progress in the field of Condensed Matter Physics, driven primarily by the experimental discovery of a number of novel materials displaying exotic behavior such as unconventional superconductivity, fractional statistics, and topologically nontrivial phases. It has become clear that many of these interesting properties arise from strong interactions between their constituent electrons, with growing evidence of the key role played by inhomogeneities, frustration and topological aspects of the matter.

Impact on physics, geology, biology and applied sciences
ICTP-SAIFR, São Paulo, Brazil - 4 - 6 August 2018

The Sixth International Workshop for the Design of the ANDES Underground Laboratory will take place August 4-6 2018 in São Paulo, Brazil, continuing the School on Dark Matter and Neutrino Detection. It follows the workshops held in April 2011 (Argentina), June 2011 (Brazil), January 2012 (Chile), January 2014 (Mexico) and June 2017 (Argentina).

The confirmation of the building of the Agua Negra tunnel, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), together with the finalization of the ANDES conceptual design (NEC), and the official will of the EBITAN to add ANDES to the Agua Negra tunnel civil work make ANDES closer to completion. This workshop will focus on the many efforts needed to start the planning for the opening of ANDES.
