I have an opening for a 1-year postdoc at the University of Barcelona. This position is available in the frame of the project \u201cEnergy conversion at small scales: exploiting the non-equilibrium character of active matter. (ECAM)\u201d funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. Successful applicants will join the established and growing effort in active matter physics within the Department of Condensed Matter Physics of the University of Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The overall aim of the project is to study energy conversion mechanisms taking place at the micro-scale in systems of active particles and their non-equilibrium collective response. The postdoc will be able to work on several problems related to this general aim – stochastic thermodynamics of model self-propelled particles, rheology of active fluids, mechanical response of active solids or pattern formation in suspensions of driven and chiral colloids – depending on her\/his background and interests. The research will be theoretical and computational, with potential collaboration with experimental groups in the department.
The candidate must have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, have a strong background in Statistical Mechanics and some experience with numerical simulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
