{"id":8748,"date":"2019-02-15T15:15:00","date_gmt":"2019-02-15T15:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/feiasofi.net\/?p=8748"},"modified":"2025-05-12T15:16:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T15:16:18","slug":"x-brazilian-meeting-on-simulational-physics-ouro-preto-brazil-july-15-19-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/feiasofi.net\/?p=8748","title":{"rendered":"X Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics, Ouro Preto, Brazil, July 15 -19, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The tenth edition of the Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics will be held in the historic city of Ouro Preto, Brazil, &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"955\" height=\"362\" src=\"https:\/\/feiasofi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/image-41.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8749\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8230;from July 15 to 19, as a&nbsp;<br>Satellite Meeting of StatPhys 27, to be held during 8-12 July, 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The X-BMSP will gather scientists specialized in simulations in the most diverse areas of&nbsp; physics, chemistry, biology and materials science, to present the latest advances in methodology and techniques applied to the study of problems through computer simulations.<br>Webpage:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/xbmsp.ufop.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">xbmsp.ufop.br<\/a>&nbsp;Organizers: BV Costa, JA Plascak, DP Landau, LAS M\u00f3l, PHL Martins, LFC Pereira<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Welcome<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Computer &nbsp;&nbsp;simulations &nbsp;&nbsp;play &nbsp;&nbsp;a &nbsp;&nbsp;major &nbsp;&nbsp;role &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;science &nbsp;&nbsp;nowadays. &nbsp;&nbsp;Together &nbsp;&nbsp;with &nbsp;&nbsp;Theory &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;Experiments &nbsp;&nbsp;it &nbsp;&nbsp;allows &nbsp;&nbsp;a&nbsp;better &nbsp;&nbsp;comprehension &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;natural &nbsp;&nbsp;phenomena &nbsp;&nbsp;by &nbsp;&nbsp;giving &nbsp;&nbsp;informations &nbsp;&nbsp;otherwise &nbsp;&nbsp;unreachable. &nbsp;&nbsp;Indeed, &nbsp;&nbsp;computer&nbsp;simulations &nbsp;&nbsp;are &nbsp;&nbsp;applied &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;almost &nbsp;&nbsp;every &nbsp;&nbsp;branch &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;science, &nbsp;&nbsp;from &nbsp;&nbsp;physics, &nbsp;&nbsp;chemistry &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;biology &nbsp;&nbsp;to &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;study &nbsp;&nbsp;of&nbsp;complex multidisciplinary problems, such as in material science.&nbsp;Today &nbsp;&nbsp;Brazil &nbsp;&nbsp;has &nbsp;&nbsp;a &nbsp;&nbsp;large &nbsp;&nbsp;community &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;researchers &nbsp;&nbsp;who &nbsp;&nbsp;use &nbsp;&nbsp;computer &nbsp;&nbsp;simulations &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;development &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;their&nbsp;research &nbsp;&nbsp;projects. &nbsp;&nbsp;In &nbsp;&nbsp;this &nbsp;&nbsp;context, &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;Brazilian &nbsp;&nbsp;Meeting &nbsp;&nbsp;on &nbsp;&nbsp;Simulational &nbsp;&nbsp;Physics &nbsp;&nbsp;has &nbsp;&nbsp;been &nbsp;&nbsp;held &nbsp;&nbsp;since &nbsp;&nbsp;1997,&nbsp;agglomerating &nbsp;&nbsp;researchers &nbsp;&nbsp;from &nbsp;&nbsp;Brazil &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;abroad, &nbsp;&nbsp;working &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;most &nbsp;&nbsp;diverse &nbsp;&nbsp;branches &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;physics. &nbsp;&nbsp;The &nbsp;&nbsp;first&nbsp;BMSP &nbsp;&nbsp;took &nbsp;&nbsp;place &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Belo &nbsp;&nbsp;Horizonte &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;1997, &nbsp;&nbsp;two &nbsp;&nbsp;years &nbsp;&nbsp;later &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;second &nbsp;&nbsp;BMSP &nbsp;&nbsp;was &nbsp;&nbsp;also &nbsp;&nbsp;held &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Belo &nbsp;&nbsp;Horizonte.&nbsp;The &nbsp;&nbsp;third, &nbsp;&nbsp;fourth &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;fifth &nbsp;&nbsp;editions &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;event &nbsp;&nbsp;were &nbsp;&nbsp;held &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Ouro &nbsp;&nbsp;Preto &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;2003, &nbsp;&nbsp;2005 &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;2007. &nbsp;&nbsp;In &nbsp;&nbsp;2011, &nbsp;&nbsp;the&nbsp;sixth &nbsp;&nbsp;edition &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;BMSP &nbsp;&nbsp;was &nbsp;&nbsp;held &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Cuiab\u00e1, &nbsp;&nbsp;followed &nbsp;&nbsp;by &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;seventh &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Jo\u00e3o &nbsp;&nbsp;Pessoa &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;2013 &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;eighth &nbsp;&nbsp;in&nbsp;Florian\u00f3polis in 2015. The ninth edition celebrated the 20th anniversary of the event in 2017 in Natal.&nbsp;In &nbsp;&nbsp;this &nbsp;&nbsp;tenth &nbsp;&nbsp;edition &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;event &nbsp;&nbsp;returns &nbsp;&nbsp;to &nbsp;&nbsp;Minas &nbsp;&nbsp;Gerais &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;will &nbsp;&nbsp;be &nbsp;&nbsp;held &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Ouro &nbsp;&nbsp;Preto &nbsp;&nbsp;as &nbsp;&nbsp;a &nbsp;&nbsp;Satellite &nbsp;&nbsp;Meeting &nbsp;&nbsp;of&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;27th &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;International &nbsp;&nbsp;Conference &nbsp;&nbsp;on &nbsp;&nbsp;Statistical &nbsp;&nbsp;Physics, &nbsp;&nbsp;StatPhys &nbsp;&nbsp;27, &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;International &nbsp;&nbsp;Union &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;Pure &nbsp;&nbsp;and&nbsp;Applied &nbsp;&nbsp;Physics &nbsp;&nbsp;(IUPAP) &nbsp;&nbsp;that &nbsp;&nbsp;will &nbsp;&nbsp;take &nbsp;&nbsp;place &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Buenos &nbsp;&nbsp;Aires, &nbsp;&nbsp;Argentina, &nbsp;&nbsp;from &nbsp;&nbsp;July &nbsp;&nbsp;8th &nbsp;&nbsp;through &nbsp;&nbsp;12th, &nbsp;&nbsp;2019. &nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;X-BMSP &nbsp;&nbsp;will &nbsp;&nbsp;gather &nbsp;&nbsp;scientists &nbsp;&nbsp;specialized &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;simulation &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;most &nbsp;&nbsp;diverse &nbsp;&nbsp;areas &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;physics, &nbsp;&nbsp;chemistry, &nbsp;&nbsp;biology&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;materials &nbsp;&nbsp;science, &nbsp;&nbsp;to &nbsp;&nbsp;present &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;latest &nbsp;&nbsp;advances &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;methodology &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;techniques &nbsp;&nbsp;applied &nbsp;&nbsp;to &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;study &nbsp;&nbsp;of&nbsp;problems &nbsp;&nbsp;through &nbsp;&nbsp;computer &nbsp;&nbsp;simulations. &nbsp;&nbsp;The &nbsp;&nbsp;event &nbsp;&nbsp;will &nbsp;&nbsp;also &nbsp;&nbsp;promote &nbsp;&nbsp;interaction &nbsp;&nbsp;among &nbsp;&nbsp;scientists &nbsp;&nbsp;working &nbsp;&nbsp;in&nbsp;this &nbsp;&nbsp;area, &nbsp;&nbsp;with &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;goal &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;advancing &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;methods &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;techniques &nbsp;&nbsp;available &nbsp;&nbsp;today. &nbsp;&nbsp;This &nbsp;&nbsp;topic &nbsp;&nbsp;covers &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;interests&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;researchers &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;who &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;traditionally &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;have &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;different &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;experiences &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;belong &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;to &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;communities &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;that &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;share &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;similar&nbsp;interests &nbsp;&nbsp;but &nbsp;&nbsp;have &nbsp;&nbsp;little &nbsp;&nbsp;communication &nbsp;&nbsp;with &nbsp;&nbsp;each &nbsp;&nbsp;other. &nbsp;&nbsp;Finally, &nbsp;&nbsp;this &nbsp;&nbsp;workshop &nbsp;&nbsp;will &nbsp;&nbsp;be &nbsp;&nbsp;an &nbsp;&nbsp;opportunity &nbsp;&nbsp;for &nbsp;&nbsp;the&nbsp;community &nbsp;&nbsp;working &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;this &nbsp;&nbsp;area &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;Brazil &nbsp;&nbsp;to &nbsp;&nbsp;interact &nbsp;&nbsp;directly &nbsp;&nbsp;with &nbsp;&nbsp;scientists &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;similar &nbsp;&nbsp;interests, &nbsp;&nbsp;coming &nbsp;&nbsp;from&nbsp;Brazil &nbsp;&nbsp;and &nbsp;&nbsp;abroad. &nbsp;&nbsp;In &nbsp;&nbsp;view &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;wide &nbsp;&nbsp;variety &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;techniques &nbsp;&nbsp;covered, &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;event &nbsp;&nbsp;will &nbsp;&nbsp;promote &nbsp;&nbsp;pedagogical &nbsp;&nbsp;lectures&nbsp;given &nbsp;&nbsp;by &nbsp;&nbsp;two &nbsp;&nbsp;invited &nbsp;&nbsp;professors &nbsp;&nbsp;in &nbsp;&nbsp;the &nbsp;&nbsp;form &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;mini &nbsp;&nbsp;courses &nbsp;&nbsp;for &nbsp;&nbsp;students &nbsp;&nbsp;of &nbsp;&nbsp;various &nbsp;&nbsp;levels, &nbsp;&nbsp;as &nbsp;&nbsp;well &nbsp;&nbsp;as &nbsp;&nbsp;oral&nbsp;communications and panels to be presented by all invited participants and collaborators<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tenth edition of the Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics will be held in the historic city of Ouro Preto, Brazil, &#8230; &#8230;from July 15 to 19, as a&nbsp;Satellite Meeting of StatPhys 27, to be held during 8-12 July, 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
