La Universidad de Matanzas invita a los profesores, estudiantes e investigadores a participar en la XI edición de la Convención Científica Internacional “CIUM 2023”, a celebrarse del 21 al 23 de marzo de 2023. Este evento tiene como propósito compartir saberes sobre el nivel de desarrollo en la investigación de las ciencias y las humanidades entre los países participantes, así como propiciar, entre los investigadores y educadores participantes, debates científicos y académicos en torno a los resultados de ciencia, tecnología e innovación y de gestión universitaria que constituyan propuestas pertinentes para el cumplimiento de los objetivos de la Agenda 2030 y cómo ello contribuye a la educación superior. La cita acogerá a los profesionales de las ciencias sociales y humanísticas, médicas, de la educación, económicas y empresariales, jurídicas, técnicas y agropecuarias comprometidos con el desarrollo sostenible y el cuidado del medio ambiente.

VII Taller Didáctica y Aplicaciones de las Ciencias Básicas

In the field of neuroscience, to better understand complex phenomena that occur in a wide range of scales (from the dynamics of single neurons, in vitro neuronal cultures, to the whole brain), appropriate models, experimental techniques and data analysis techniques are needed.

This school for PhD students and young postdocs will focus on five main areas: nonlinear dynamics, complex networks, data analysis, information theory and machine learning. The school will cover fundamental and applied aspects such as excitability and neuronal dynamics, neural coding, entropy and complexity measures, machine learning and data analysis methods for inferring functional connectivity, methods for characterizing functional networks, etc.

This is the announcement and call for contributions to the "XXVII Sitges Conference on Statistical Mechanics", that will take place in Sitges, a charming seaside resort near Barcelona, Spain, from the 29th of May until the 2nd of June 2023.

The title of the forthcoming edition of the Sitges Conference will be "Nonequilibrium Phenomena: from Quantum to Macroscopic Scales”. In this meeting we aim to stimulate discussion on out-of-equilibrium systems at different scales, encouraging a multidisciplinary vision within the framework of statistical mechanics. With the participation of leading researchers working on cutting-edge topics, we will focus on new methods for the description of nonequilibrium effects in diverse situations of relevance for the community.

With its new Mario Markus Prize for Ludic Science, the GDCh wants to recognise a scientific work in the field of natural science that is “playful”. The term “playful” is used here to designate discoveries that arose from research that was undertaken not with any specific application in mind, but simply out of curiosity about the natural world.Nomination deadline: May 31, 2023.

This is a first announcement of the conference “Statistical Mechanics for Complexity - A Celebration of the 80th Birthday of C. Tsallis” to be held at Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 6 to November 10, 2023. In this event we will have the pleasure to celebrate the 80th birthday of Constantino Tsallis, his many seminal contributions to statistical physics, particularly 35 years of his proposal of generalization of Boltzmann-Gibbs statistical mechanics grounded on the non-additive Sq entropy.

Con mucho agrado les anunciamos el Quinto Taller Argentino de Cuántica (CUANTOS 5) a realizarse los días 19, 20, 21 de Abril de 2023, en Córdoba, Argentina.

Este Taller, el Quinto en este formato, promueve el encuentro y la reunión presencial entre estudiantes (de grado y posgrado) e investigadores/as del país y de la región, con especial interés en distintas áreas de la Mecánica Cuántica como control de sistemas cuánticos, óptica cuántica, información y tecnologías cuánticas, nanotecnología basada en dispositivos cuánticos, coherencias, tomografía, etc.
